Lights, Camera, Beer!

What do a craft brewery and the theater have in common? They are both located in a cool location in Ann Arbor, Michigan at hear.say brewing + theater! The location on your GPS might seem familiar, and that is because it is located in what used to be another brewery on the trail called Townies. I was thrilled when we learned that there was another brewery opening in its place!

hear.say is a cozy craft brewery that also boasts a spacious patio on the side and a huge biergarten in the back. The taproom is open to the brewing and fermenting tanks – something I love to see. I was greeted the minute I walked in (no, it wasn’t just because I was holding a rack at the time), and I immediately found myself drawn in. Tony, the owner, is a friendly guy who takes great pride in what he has done. I thoroughly enjoyed sampling a flight of the beers as I noshed on some items from the menu. I HIGHLY recommend the hot dogs and waffle fries with a side of pretzel bites – nom, nom nom… I enjoyed every single beer I sampled, even the IPA! For those of you who know me, I am not typically an IPA fan. But this one, I can see myself enjoying on the back deck in the sun. zen.waves was my favorite of the flight.

Next to the taproom is an enclosed theater space where improv classes are taught and comedy shows performed. More information about both can be found on their website at https://www.heardotsay.com/.

I loved my visit so much that I asked Tony on the spot if he would be interested in hosting the TagaBrew holiday party. I am pretty sure he was surprised when I told him we could easily bring 120 people to the event, but he enthusiastically agreed. We ended up hosting a WhoVille Holiday Party there this past December, and all in attendance had a wonderful time!

Views of the taproom & biergarten

hear.say carries both TagaBrew and TagaCheer! The comedy/tragedy mask charm couldn’t be more perfect. In addition to craft beer, you can also select options from their mixed drink and non-alcoholic beverage menus.

Great beer, yummy food, spacious taproom and outdoor spaces, an attached theater, … but wait, there’s more! hear.say also has an AirBnB that you can rent right next door to the brewery. The two bedroom, one bathroom house also has a loft, so it holds up to six guests. Russ and I have stayed there with our pup Sandy (because it is also dog friendly – yay!), and we are looking forward to another stay we have booked for this spring. It is clean, comfortably furnished, and well stocked in the kitchen. You get a dedicated picnic table in the biergarten area and private parking. To Tony and his staff, the only thing I have left to say is BRAVO!
